I recently gave a presentation to a group of professional people who are service providers in the Southern California area. One of the people in the audience is the owner of a dozen pizza restaurants and is a franchisee of a major distributor. I couldn't really understand why he was part of this group and what he was doing. So, after the meeting, I pulled him aside to ask him.

Growing Your Business: Pay Me Now or Pay Me Later
I just met a gentleman at my health club where I work out, and we started to chat. He told me that he's a forensic investigator which means that he does analysis that is even cryptic to accountants and others who are used to looking at books and records. Actually, he works on the collections side, meaning that he supports the large financial institution when they make loans that go bad. He's the one who helps them find assets of both the corporations and the individuals to repay the loans.

Fixing the Newspaper Industry
I have spent many years working with newspapers all over the United States and around the world on new media initiatives. We had good success with our early initiatives, but the industry was instantly overtaken by the explosion of the Internet in 1995. Nevertheless, the lessons that we learned were powerful then, and they continue to be powerful today. Unfortunately, most of the lessons have been missed by the managements of the major newspaper organizations.

Growing Your Business: The Shortest Distance to No Customers
I was having coffee with a good friend of mine yesterday, who said something that exemplified entrepreneurial thinking. And it wasn't the kind of entrepreneur thinking that I want to continue to promote. It's the kind of entrepreneur thinking that gets companies in great trouble, and I would like to educate you about the error of this logic so that you don't make a similar mistake.
