CES Preview: Put A Glove On It?
Beyoncé, in her very famous hit single, “Put a Ring on It”, advises a man that he should lock up a woman who he really loves by making her his wife. Well, OtterBox (http://www.otterbox.com/) wants you to “Put a Glove on It” so that you can provide the most extraordinary protection available to your cherished electronic device. Because if you like what you have, you're going to want to protect it and keep it safe for as long as you can.

Next week, I'm going to the Consumer Electronics Show with my son. He and I are both avid electronics buffs, and we are anxious to see all of the new gadgets that are on their way out for the year 2010 and beyond. In the last 20 years, I've been to CES at least 15 times so I'm used to the flow of how products come out, make their debut, and then eventually end up on the department store shelves for consumers to buy. For example, I remember in 1998 I saw the first flat-screen TV's, which were completely revolutionary for that time. I recall that a 30-inch flat screen TV was about $30,000. Now, that same television is available for under $500. It really demonstrates how product launches and rollouts dance with price over time.

Couldn't Everybody Use A Buddy?
This weekend our family saw the new movie "The Blind Side", starring Sandra Bullock. What an extraordinary and uplifting movie! Her performance was great, and there were a couple of other breakout roles that you will recognize when you see the movie. But, this column isn't about the movie. The column is about the social commentary that the movie presents.

Below is the second part of my personal reflections from the Real Estate Deal Making And Syndication Symposium that we just held in Las Vegas. My comments are directed toward the other people who attended this live program, but I chose to share them on my blog for the benefit of all real estate professionals and experienced investors.

Can An Electronic Tool Change Everything?
From time to time, I like to deviate from my typical business rants and tackle some technologies and gadgets that I stumble upon which help entrepreneurs to be incredibly more efficient and more productive. I've been known to say that entrepreneurs produce at 20 times the rate of their corporate counterparts. The reason that this is so is partly because they have to — and it's partly because of their swift use and early adoption of cool technologies.

Do Any Little Colloquialisms Get On Your Nerves?
Being a salesman at heart, I am very sensitive to the words that people say — and the body language that they say it with — so that I can figure out what people really mean. Along the way, I have found a few little phrases that people drop into their conversations that are very telling. You judge for yourself and let me know if there are any others that "tip you off" or "bug" you like these affect me.

What About Celebrating My Re-Birthday?
I normally don't get terribly philosophical, but today is one of those days that I'm thinking about my life and my business in a new way. I consider today to be the first day of my new life and of a series of new opportunities. I want to consider things in a new way and try things that I hadn't tried before. In a certain way, it's like January 1st, only this time it's not about resolutions — it's really about being open-minded and taking a new direction for my life.
It doesn't hurt that it's also my birthday. But, today helps me to think about all the new things that I can do to make my life exactly the way that I want it. This economy has caused all of us at Growth-Logic to think in a new way. It's caused everyone on my team to regroup and be more focused on things that are relevant to us. We're more focused on the specific kinds of seminars that are relevant to our audience. We're more focused on doing asset based transactions, and getting involved in the deal business. I am going back to the roots of my training.
