Growing Your Business: Meet My Friend Mike Podolny
I normally think about return on investment (ROI) because that's what the people in my business circles are concerned with. That roughly means that you put cash into a deal, the cash generates some amount of return to you, and that is the return on investment that you receive.

Growing Your Business: Big vs. Small
I have a lot of experience dealing with large companies. Always being an entrepreneur and making my way into a large corporate structure has provided me with a lot of insight about the way the game plays and about the way that the world works.

Growing Your Business: Hot Potato
Do you remember the game that we used to play when we were kids? We'd sit in a circle and then we would take a potato and pass it from one kid to the next kid in a circle until the music stopped or until somebody said stop. The person holding the potato was out of the game.

Growing Your Business: I Don't Get It!
There are a lot of things that I don't get, and most of the time, when I don't get something, I tend to stay away from it. I think most of the time, it works the same way. We don't understand it; we don't do it. Why would we do it if we don't understand it? On the other hand, maybe it makes a lot of sense to do things whether we understand them or not, at least sometimes.

We learned that we were to "leave nothing but footprints and take nothing but memories" from the campgrounds that we visited. Our children were very young and this was a very simple way of sharing an important message with them so that they could learn to be respectful of the natural surroundings that this wonderful program allowed the fathers and the children to participate in together.

The entrepreneur business is one of the best businesses in the United States. It's an exciting business; it's a challenging business; it's a business that can deliver billions of dollars to winners and scoop up all of the money that the losers ever earned in their lifetime, leaving them poor, if not destitute.

Growing Your Business: Money Is About Priorities
Money is entirely about priorities. People can spend it any way that they choose. They can buy fancy cars that suck up a lot of gas, or they can buy more economical vehicles that are more energy efficient and socially responsible. People can be selfish or people can be lavish, but the one thing that we can all agree on is that people can spend their own money in any way that they want.

Growing Your Business: Guru Marketing At Its Best
I'm a proponent of being very specific about finding a niche in your business. Every successful businessperson has to find a niche and they have to get great at it. Then, they have to exploit it in every way that they can. The businesses that are the least successful are the ones that are sloppy about finding their niche.
